What wedding dress styles are there?

Another advantage of an empire wedding dress is the additional room in the skirt for books and other items. I had my wedding registry information tucked in one side of my wedding gown, while three photo albums were strapped to the back, so that guests could easily see pictures, instead of asking me questions about them.

Wedding dress styles

are constantly changing, and today there are millions of designs from which the modern bride can choose. While some wedding dress styles remain popular for many years, others come and go. I mean, google fashion of the 80s - in addition to the loud blue and pink eyeshadow everywhere, the shoulder pads dominated fashion of that era. Will they ever make a comeback? Let’s wait and see. (I would bet it’s a no though.)

A-line wedding dresses

are very popular. An A-line wedding dress is fitted at the top and flows out to form a smooth, A-shaped line. This style is flattering for most body types and can be dressed up or down depending on the wedding theme.

Ball gown wedding dresses

are also popular, especially for traditional weddings. A ball gown wedding dress is fitted at the top and features a full skirt that often has multiple layers of tulle or organza. This style is very dramatic and makes a statement.

Vintage wedding dresses

are usually lace-over-silk or satin which adds to their dramatic look. After Downton Abbey and Bridgerton such dresses are becoming more and more popular and a lot of brides are digging into their grandmothers closets.

If you're going for a vintage wedding dress, make sure to choose one that is in good condition and has been well-maintained. A dry cleaner can help with this. A good seamstress will make the dress fit like it was made for you from the start. If you’re just starting the search for your weddings dress, read my blog post here on Things to consider when shopping for a wedding dress.

An empire wedding dress is another vintage wedding dress trend that is gaining popularity. It features a high waistline and a flowing skirt. This look was popularized by the movie Titanic and is often seen with a long veil.

An empire wedding dress

is another vintage wedding dress trend that is gaining popularity. It features a high waistline and a flowing skirt. This dress can serve you more than once if you don’t plan on just safe-keeping it in a closet for decades to come - you can wear dye it a different colour and wear it for your maternity photo session!

I wore my wedding dress 5 times before I said goodbye to it, but that’s a topic for another day, another post. 🍬

If you're reading this and wonder—

what the heck is she talking about - I got to admit, when I write my article posts, I use a certain AI program to help me get over the hump, ie writer's block. The program starts a sentence for me and I do the rest - so I write about 90-95 percent of the article. In case my Ron’s Gone Wrong (If you haven’t seen this movie, I highly recommend it, it’s fun!). That paragraph was just the most amazing piece of fiction I read and I absolutely had to leave it there. It looks like AI figured out my sense of humour too, cause it's totally something I would write if I only could come up with it, hah!
